Fairy Tale Medicine - a weekend of creative healing

in Brighton - arty city and sea juiciness

  • February can be a difficult month. It can feel long dark and a little depressing.

If you find winter hard, and your heart and soul are longing for some light, warmth and connection, our Brighton Winter Retreat is a gorgeous invitation into fairy-lit togetherness, winter sea air, shared stories and juicy inspiration.

This weekend, we will be journeying with two potent stories from the book Women Who Run with The Wolves : La Loba, the Bone Woman who gathers what has been lost and sings it back to life, and Baubo, the cheeky goddess whose juicy belly laughter and sensuality lifts the weight of a long hard time of grief.

It is a deeply healing book, and working with these stories in a group like this can truly bring them alive.

This retreat is open to everyone, is queer-led and a really welcoming nurturing space right in the heart of the magical, arty lanes of Brighton. A weekend of new friendships, snuggling in, soulful sharing, belly laughter, rest, creativity and community.

    Your place includes:

    • Friday evening, Saturday and Sunday workshops

    • A full 60-minute one-to-one body massage

    • Story circles, creative workshops reflection and community

    • Optional sunrise beach sauna which is an extra and subject to winter timetables

This is a non-residential retreat, so you are free to choose your own cosy Airbnb, sea-view room, little hotel or peaceful hideaway. Wander Brighton’s independent shops, snuggle into beautiful cafés and connect with soulful participants from the workshops.

This retreat is great for those who

    • find the short winter days difficult

    • longing to reconnect with their creativity

    • want to make new friendships and community

    • want to work on healing their relationship with their body

    • want to go home feeling lighter, warmer and juicily renewed, with the February blues lifted a little

A weekend of creativity and community , and put together with Clare Beloveds delicious Scouse Irreverence and magic.

Clare Jasmine Beloved

Mistress of all things Juicy and Gorgeous

Artist / Poet/ Therapist / Writer / Clothes Textile Designer / Therapist and Arts in Health Specialist/ founder of the Bad Lesbian Widows Club

My life is a big, deep and juicy creative offering. My art is full of large scale lush goddesses, magic mermaids, sensual sistas, and sacred imagery, symbolism, story and feelings. My work is also translated into limited edition textile ranges in silks and velvet as well as a beautiful jewellery range.

I trained with Dr Clarissa Pinkola Estes in learning how to bring the stories from Women Who Run with the Wolves to others and have also worked with myth and stories in my own way for 30+ years. Stories carry themes of redemption, belonging, resurrection, grief and renewal. Together, we huddle around the metaphorical fire and begin to hear our own myths reflected back to us in new ways. We journey with symbolism to uncover our own authentic voices, and to see our lives with fresh eyes. I work with a rich mix of methods including circle work, mark-making, shrines, creativity, colour and poetry, helping us reconnect with the lost bones of ourselves and bring them gently back to life. Along the way, something else grows too: new friendships, shared meaning, and a deep sense of being seen and loved.

My ground-breaking creative work has been funded by Arts Council England, and my large-scale creative projects have been rolled out through Public Health, NHS and Primary Care Teams, schools, job centres, prisons, refuges and probation services.

I have lived through my own painful depressions, broken hearts and dreams, and difficult experiences. In 2021 my beloved wife Sandra died of cancer. I’ve found that grief is an intense magical teacher. I believe all our experiences and vulnerabilities can shape us into more compassionate human beings, willing to open our hearts more deeply and risk a wildly beautiful creative life.
