Our Current Collection :
the history and meaning of the images
My first collection sees paintings from over the last twelve years used in new ways.
These paintings mean so much to me and have been a huge part of my own journey and healing.
The paintings and imagery have also meant so much to other people who have been drawn to their imagery and meanings.
Often people say a shawl or a dress chooses them rather than them choosing which they like...
Queen of her own Life
Sovereignty - Blessings of the universe on future dreams - Doorways to New Paths starting within the heart
This mixed media painting was finished in 2015 on my return from India.
The 3 small boats sailing in the skies are showering blessings on the future dreams (symbolised by cocoons) of the wearer.
The painting was also deeply influenced by the mythical stories of Bluebeard which I teach in my storytelling circles.
The woman in the painting represents the sister from the story who chooses not to be seduced by false appearances and the riches of the palaces.
Instead she goes her own way trusting in her intuition and heart whisperings.
This in the end proves the most trustworthy path.
The shawl contains many symbols of blessings. The hearts pouring from the sky represent love for the magic you wish for yourself.
Mother of Rebirth
Wrapped in universal Mama - Feel Held and Know you are beloved whatever unfolds - Rebirth into new colourful beginnings
This mixed media painting was finished in 2015 on my return from India.
The great mother was inspired by Mother India, injecting my dreams and creativity with the brightest colours.
The painting was also deeply influenced by the mythical stories of The Phoenix and my earlier mama painting Phoenix Rising.
The woman in the painting represents the Universal Mother wrapping us in her wing like comforting arms…
It contains the imagery of the golden egg symbolising self care.
The treasure inside reminding us of the story of the golden goose but also the golden egg from which all is born.
whole new worlds and universes. It contains the handwritten word Rebirth.
The shawl contains many symbols of transition : ladders and sea selkie mermaid eggs… the mini phoenix rising mamas are taken from my earlier painting.
Rebirth and strength - Rise high and on fire with the embers of the heart - Redemption and healing after difficult times
This acrylic painting is one of the original mama paintings that was created during my recovery from a breakdown 7 years ago.
It was displayed at Tate Liverpool as part of my exhibition 100 women create.
She is a symbol of hope, rising into a rich universe created from the ashes, embers and rich mulch of stories, emotions and experiences…
Whatevr she has been through she rises each daywith possibility of creating new universes. The ashes of the past story are trasnformed into pure gold.
She is stronger than ever and this strength fills the wearer with a courage to rise and shine. There is no stopping this sista.
The shawl contains one thousand wishes for a bright burning joyful future.
Creative C*nt Beloved C*nt Divine C*nt Sensual C*nt Brilliant C*nt Gorgeous C*nt Radical C*nt Intelligent C*nt Rich C*nt
The C*nts form a magical mandala of power with the words above.
This drawing was sketched during my Red School Apprenticeship as I sat in circle with an amazing group of women over a year long training…
It is one of a series of images that inspire us to reclaim and heal women's cycles as powerful medicine.
A percentage of the funding from sales of this collection go to a local enterprise which I support called
The Homeless Period Liverpool and money goes straight to buying supplies for women on the streets of Liverpool.
Beloved Bone Shaker
I reclaim the power in my bones I am strong juicy and divine
This mixed media painting was one of a series of three finished early in 2016.
It was painted on many layers and stories on canvas and each layer reveals something of the last… our stories shape us when we can reclaim their power.
The painting was also deeply influenced by the mythical stories of La Loba and the stories of bone women from many cultures…
the myths take us back thorough time and strip us to the bone..
doorways to the past often pull us into our future and this shawl contains deep healing medicine for carrying us home to our true selves.
The woman in the painting carries ancient healing, she has gathered the stories from our buried bones and there is nothing to hide from her … she reveals and heals.
This is a beautiful shawl to wear to knit the bones of our being back together … it is protective, powerful and transformational.
Rainbow MIRACLE MAMA
Juicy Miracles - Transforming Hopeless Situations - Calls in the joy and possibility.
This mixed media painting was finished in 2014 on my return from Mexico and after visiting the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalopue.
I was recovering from a difficult breakdown and I had lost hope, Mexico with her colourful flowers, fiestas, prayers and symbolism was magical to me and brought me back to life.
This shawl represents a wild potent miracle energy of manifesting and answered prayers and blessings … even when nothing changes in our outer circumstances sometimes a change of heart can bring new bright hope.
The shawl contains many symbols of the guadeloupe mama … she invites you to dream big and believe.
beloved sacred sista
Mary Magdalene - Priestess - Mother - Magician - Red Tents.
She is a baddass monsoon priestess of magic.
Embodying sacred sensuality and women's cycles, she sits in alignment with the phases of the moon.
She is rich, juicy, full, magical and in her power.
She contains the imagery and symbolism of The Vesica Pisceas.
She stands with her sistas. This image reminds you of your connection to everything and the rich life blood of the red thread that is woven between all women.
Power - magical - intuition - freedom - transformation - crone - strong - no bullshit - wisdom- sage - Power
The Wise Sage is a very powerful image to wear and meditate on.
She is crone, she is embodying a deep wisdom which is geared towards self and truth beyond people pleasing and looking pretty.
The image contains many black and white doorways repeated down the side and they represent the places of transition we cross through in life.
Some women have told me she is a powerful symbol both pre and post and during menopause. I can see why !
I can also feel how important she is at any transition and how she stands at the doorways with us and has our back.
Dreams of the sea
In my Dreams I live by the sea and swim with the selkies
Selkies have always fascinated me and myths of mermaids.
In my dreams I have always imagined, like many of us, waking up close to the sea.
The two mermaids swim playfully with the seals and starfish and this image is light and energetic and beautifully whimsical and creative to wear.
This is one of my latest paintings and on a recent trip to cornwall this print as a dress got many comments ! I was stopped by many fellow mermaids - it's a great way to start new juicy conversations!
Sassy Law onto herself
The creative cowgirl was painted about 8 years ago.
At the time my heart was broken but the cowgirl showed up on the canvas strong and sassy and her cactus prickly protective medicine and sassy spirit saved me.
She is joyful, wild and strong and travels through life with freedom and style. The universe is contained in her hair in magical stars.
She wears a crown of roses and thorns and only those who are willing to risk the thorns can smell the fragrance of delicious roses.
She has the biggest heart but one must agree to her boundaries and navigate her terrain to win her over. She is a beautiful law unto herself.
A mandala means literally circle.
This womans mandala is a combination of symbols from different paintings of mine from over the last three years. The woman at the centre holds a spiral in her arms and a heart.
The second layer represents women at the doorway of transition, two of the major transitions in womens lives are menarche and menopause... these two rites of passage are often ignored or
demonised in women or seen as a curse and a burden.
The third layer represents death and transformation of one phase of our life to another ...
we repeat these cycles often in our lifetime and the mandala is a comfort and a reminder of
the returning and the learning from each circular journey.
On a good day like today I could walk on water -
dive deep - stay close to your selkie skin
The Selkie Story is one of my favourites ... its mystical mermaid magic calls us like a siren back to our truest selves.
This image reminds us of the essence of the story ... how not to give ourselves and our souls away on false promises or to satisfy someone elses longings and hunger.
The story also re connects us to womens cycles - the need to be connected to the world and also to equally return at times to our own wild depths.
The Magic Tree
Meet me under the magic trees
This image includes three paintings created over the last four years combined into a single composition.
Trees hold much magic and healing for me.
In my tiny magic coach house garden there is a giant tree
that I am totally in love with.
For the past 12 years it has held and healed me under its wise branches. Trees have a heart beat, this tree also has an imaginary doorway to its centre and leads us to all kinds of new worlds, understandings and possibilities.
In the trees roots lies a golden bowl of eggs... dreams and potential snug and in waiting ready for the perfect moment to hatch and grow.
Two angels stand guard as spirits of the land and at the base of the tree are two mockingbird mamas with comforting wings to hold, heal and mirror what is needed as medicine for our souls.
